Selection of jockeys will  be the responsiblity of the Trainer in consultation with the Racing Manager. Often trainers will prefer jockeys who have experience on the horse such as riding in work or trials, however the riding weight of the jockey will sometimes be a factor.

 If it is felt that a claiming apprentice should be used stable apprentices will often be favoured partly because of  their knowledge of the horses in their master's care.
